This is a known issue on the RX-8 and your dealership should replace the tail light free of charge.

Has anyone had this repair done outside of their warranty? I would think it would be covered since this is a service bulletin, but maybe not. My lights are aquariums too. Guess I'll just ask the local dealer.

TSB is a way to tell dealership how to fix certain *well known problem(s)*.
In the other words, u can count them as *wear* item and will *fail* overtime.
So in conclusion, is free to fix only if u're still within the bumper to bumper warranty.

If you guys just type this simple phrase into the search bar it will give you step by step instructions WITH pictures on how to fix the issue.
Search for "DIY Tail Lights" and you will see it.
Here is the fix after you do the DIY

But I guess that is asking to much......

That being said....I didn't attempt going to the dealer for the fix. I just drilled two tiny holes in the bottom of each housing, drained out what water I could, and within two days, all the condensation was gone. I've driven in the rain a couple of times since, and they don't seem to be trapping any water.

The day i picked my 8 up a few days ago from the dealership i took the taillight out as it has 1 inch of water in it, it took me 15 mins to pull it out and 10 mins of shaking out the wather, it still fogged up but i drilled two tiny holes where that water was laying at and then i put it back on and sealed the gasket w a clear sealer.
I pointe the rear in the sun and by the end of the day 75% of the fog faded away and by the afternoon of the next day it was all gone.
Whole process took maybe an hour from start to finsish and i didnt read any how to,s on it at all, was very simple common sense
