valentine one wiring problems?

Okay, so heres what is happening.

I am trying to wire my valentine into the car using the ad-a-circuit fuse adapter method.

I have the adapter and all but it won't work.

I followed the instructions on this post:
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...0&postcount=73

Now, when I wire it all up, I can turn the car on, and the ac works ( I know I am using the right a/c fuse too, because if I leave that fuse out that part of my display doesn't even come on.) however, the valentine doesn't come on.

I tapped the add-a-circuit wire, grounded it to the bolt (wasn't on tight, just around the bolt, but it was touching none the less *this was because I was testing to make sure everything worked before I made it permanent*) and then plugged the phone line into the valentine hardwiring kit.

However, I get nothing!

I don't know why this is!
One thing to note, is that the guy in the post said he added an extra 7.5 amp fuse to the add-a-circuit. I did not, but he wasn't sure it was necessary. Is it? Is that the problem?

If you have any insight or ideas, PLEASE LET ME KNOW or maybe a different fuse to try or anything.

Thanks!

Did you plug the phone line into the correct port of the V1 hardwiring kit?
If I remember correctly there were two ports.

Did you turn the V1 switch clockwise to the On position?

ya it is in the main port and yes it is on.

Also, I am curious, I saw a diagram of the fuse box a long time ago, but I can't recall where, it explained what each fuse was for.

does anyone know where I can find that online?

have you checked the voltage coming off the adapter?

the add-a-circuit?

no I haven't. but I can't find my voltmeter and I don't want to have to buy a new one so I am trying to narrow it down.

for some reason I am really thinking that it is because I didn't add the extra 7.5amp fuse.....

Inside box, from top down -

Cigar
Access
Power
a/c
not used
not used
defroster
dsc
audio
locks
windows
room

(the four vertical fuses are spares)

I would not use the a/c, I'd connect to the second one down 'accesories'.

okay. I'll change the fuse, however, the two below that you said are "not used" have fuses in them.... hah so I guess they are just doing nothing. But what is the "access" fuse responsible for?

Nav & mirrors.

'Power' fuse does the second outlet, in the centre console and the trunk lid popper.

woo!!! got it too work.

and that access fuse was responsible for my whole display.... like if i turned it on with that fuse out the display didn't come on at all...

but ya, I used a spare fuse in the second slot on the add-a-circuit and flipped the little cylindar fuse in the valentine hardwire kit.

idk, but it works now... yay!!

Thank you guys so much for your help, you guys are great!
