Urgent: oil pressure

Whats normal oil pressure at idle for a mt rx-8? The defi gauge is reading at 1.25kpa while the stock one is 2.5 lines past the middle on the high side.

the defi gauge has the warning light set at 1.5kpa. I'm using 10w30 RP. And the defi gauges are wired exactly as required.

Is it the car or the gauges?

You, or your gauge, are seriously confused.

You may be happier with one calibrated in PSI.

1.25 kPa is about 2 percent of one psi.....

Perhaps you mean 1.25 thousand kPa, or 18 psi.

The stock 'gauge' is a switch, turns on around 10 psi and just stays still, don't bother waiting for it to move. Good idea to buy a real gauge.

^ actually 1.25kPa is 0.18 PSI, so it's 125kPa that would be 18PSI

agree on both other points thou
- some(one/thing) is confused
- good idea to get a real gauge

18 sounds about right at idle and you might see it go to 60ish at WOT.

maybe post a pic of the gauge? i'm assuming its digital?

Yeah, you're right - POINT two of a psi, not 2%.....

....drunk again!

I've seen between 18-25 PSI at idle depending on the oil temperature. I'll see as high as 70-72 PSI at WOT using 20w-50.

Mine reads between 100 - 130kpa, depends on the oil temp, highest I've seen is about 510 kpa I think.

sometimes it dips below 100, like 90 ? that happens when idle is funky
