Hello, i have 2 rx8 one is automatic low power and one is high power manual ..both are import from japan ... the automatic i use it for parts on my main
so i want to ask cause was hard to find it specific what i want
Can i remove the steering wheel or only the buttons from the automatic to put them on my manual so i can have cruise control on my car ???
the parts will swap over is all i mean. im thinking you may need to reflash the PCM if yours never had the cruise in the first place, but the steering wheel parts are interchangeable. Ive converted my AT steering wheel to MT steering wheel and removed the paddle shifters.

Can I use the pcm from the car that j will remove the steering wheel ... just for info the car is automatically and mine is manual
no you cannot use an automatic PCM for a manual car or vice versa. just try to swap the wheels and see if it works . You will have to have an older manual PCM flashed for the cruise option or find a USDM one and match it to your car. You can flash with versatuner if you have the paid version.
The wiring is already there on all cars so you will not have to wire anything unless you need to bypass the signal with a ground from the PCM connector which is not likely if you have the right one.
Rastarx-8 any tips on doing that? I bought a red interior for my 2007 rx-8 and took the wheel too, but it is automatic. Do I need to move any parts over or can I just take off the paddle shifters and use it as is?
The automatics are more pin out/ wires on the steering wheel harness which is absent on manuals.
Even the car with sat/nav has slightly different wirings.
Short answer yes you can use the A\T steering wheel on the manual, the up-shift and down-shift pedals/buttons won't work.
This is what I did, use A\T as it is an available part to grab on eBay, code ECU for cruise control ( UK market S1 don't have cruise control)
use the extra upshift button for engine start.
Basically, with an optocoupler relay board, you utilise those extra buttons for whatever you want.

Do you have or are you aware of an instructable on this? I searched optocoupler relay boards, but it seems they are pretty generic. How do you program them?
optocoupler relay boards are generic, cheap and reliable.
You have two options :
1- use a microcontroller, micro Arduino is more than you need. possibilities of two outputs from both up and down
2- bypass resistors, only one output (alt, jumper each to negative and bypass to have two outputs which I don't recommend )
I did the latter, as I try to keep it simple.
3 or 4 relay board,
1- ACC cut on start
2- no need spare alt. use for 5V or other system protections ( no need to cut out both IG as IG2 must cut out during start with ACC, IG1 is on during start)
3- IG2 cut on start
4- ST do start
Photos are from my old archive, a few years ago, before I start doing 3d, those screw terminals are rubbish,
I would go for spring terminals, Wago style. I would make my wiring loom with a 3d printed box with a bypass switch in future.
