Well after running my 05 8 a little i start to smell a funny smell. So i get out and open up the hood to see if anything may be leaking or low. Nothing i see is wrong, but it smells like burnt popcorn!! im taking it to the dealer tmw but they probably wont know **** (as always). Wanting a better opinion on it. Any ideas what it may be? I know you said it smells like "burnt popcorn", but would you say it has a burnt rubber smell... like a belt? Have you checked all your fluids?

 

um no its not burnt rubber. i checked fluid but iono, all looked fine to me still under warranty! yusss!!

 

Nobody used any engine cleaner or cleaning products on the plastic/rubber bits & pieces lately, have they? A lot of times when that stuff heats up/burns off, you'll get a nasty smell from it.

 

Does it smell like Orville Reddenbacher, or Pop-Secret?

um no but they determined it was the engine detailing cleaner they used on it. Thanks for the help tho guys :P. have a good day.
