U480 OBDII won't delete codes

standard 2006 231
I have a Memoscan U480 OBDII that reads fault codes fine but comes up with "Linking Error" when I try to delete them (at least on my code P0301 generated by a faulty coil that I'm about to replace).

The reader deletes codes on my other car (Skoda Octavia Mk1, a VW Golf Mk4 under the skin).
I've RTM (albeit an internet copy as my kids decided to see if the manual floated), RTFM and done an internet search. My nearest dealer is an hour away and I'm trading up soon so am keen to delete rather than wait.
Anyone tried deleting with one of these. Is there anything I can do to get it to delete?
Cheers,
Ian
No,
But you could try and disconnect Neg Battery lead for a while, I am pretty sure this should erase a code, provided the original error or part fault has been rectified.
Sorry can't be certain...someone will know for sure.
