k, here's my problem. I ordered the turboxs test pipe after reading through a few posts that although it may "weep" it will bolt up to the stock cat-back. But, the rear flange seems to be slightly rotated from the factory position causing the muffler to sit tweaked, with the right side sitting too high and the left too low. Is this the way it is supposed to be in order to mount to the turboxs cat-back or do i have a defective part? As a side note... don't do this unless u like the fart can sound... because it's incredibly raspy... or do do it if you want flames lol.

anyway, this is a known issue. you have to make some notches in the flange.

 

I thought TXS eliminated this little "anomaly"?

 

Here is how I resolved that, worked perfectly (twice, on 2 different MP's). Just a quick and dirty method, you could always mark and drill 2 holes instead.

 

lol no i don't have to accounts, the other is my buddies account, i'm at his house right now. And what i ended up doing is cutting the cat-back and using an exhaust cupling to get it to the proper rotation then just welded around the coupling. Solid

 

that's well and fine, but what happens when you decide to put the cat back on for a test, to quiet the car down, or to sell it? I'd always rather modify the aftermarket part than the stock part, personally, so I can always reuse the stock part if I take the mod back off.

I had the same issue. The rear flange doesn't line up- the midpipe is designed to work with the TXS catback only. Of course you can modify it, but after a long process I won't get into I just returned it back to TurboXS.

anyone ever catch on as to why TurboXS did this in the first place?

wouldn't it hurt their bottom line to make things semi-proprietary.. seeing as many people will only want the midpipe -or- catback...

 

Al, those were my sentiments, as well, when chickenwafer first discussed his fitment concerns a while back. Seems kinda odd to not have an exhaust product that will work with others' offerings.

 

some of the racing beat parts for rx7 are the same way...they bolt to other racing beat stuff but not to stock stuff.

 

im going to chalk it up to lack of forethought.

agreed on the lack of forethought, however, it seems to me they would change this after so many complaints... Meh, had plans of puttin turboxs cat-back on in the first place so watevs
