Transmission oil.

I'm planning to get a transmission oil change. Has anyone used this brand Neo Synthetic 75w90 or Idemitsu? A lot of people here seem to use Royal Purple or Redline. Any suggestions? THanks

transmission oil

I havent heard of either of the two brands you are asking about. I recently changed my transmission oil and used a brand called leading edge. According to the guy at O'reilly's it is a slightly cheaper version of Royal Purple. So far i like it. The whining noise i heard when in neutral with the clutch released is now gone.

Idemitsu is fine stuff. I'd stick with the proven and popular Redline. Experimenting can be $$$.

Oddly the spec sheet is missing - email them for it. You DO NOT want a GL5 or even GL4/GL5.

I've had great results with BG Syncroshift II. Very smooth. Big improvement over Dino GL5.

I have been using RP in my tranny, and reading some posts over the past 2 days has got me worried. I am going to change out the fluid.

I have been looking for a place to buy BG synchroshift II, but all of the online dealers I have found sell it in packs of 3 quarts. Has anyone found a better deal?

I just changed my tranny and diff fluid to red line. It had royal purple from about 2 years ago. The tranny fluid was dark colored and looked ok, the diff fluid had the slight odor that you normally smell from used diff fluid, but not that strong of a smell, I had to try to get the smell. I do notice, just like when I did it the first time, that the shifting is smooth again.

RX8Maine - Here is the BG Find-a-Shop to see if you can find a local provider to buy it from.

BG Syncroshift II has worked great for me - smooth shifts, totally eliminated the syncro whine I had with the stock fluid.

It is really great stuff - a real Group IV, PAO-based synthetic, GL4 only trans fluid.

I'm wondering about the Neo and Idemitsu Racing Gear oils as well. Anyone have experience with these?

Neo and Idemitsu are both good stuff.

Neo has been around for a long time and it has been used in the Subaru community with Good results.

Idemitsu ... well you know what they're.
