transmission noise?

I get this weird noise whenever I let the clutch out in neutral...kind of sounds like sand rumbling in a box...I just got the car a few weeks ago and everything is stock...I don't know if this is normal or not on this car (I'm assuming not normal). I only hear it when I'm in neutral and off the clutch...soon as I press the clutch I don't hear anything. Now that I think of it I don't know if I don't hear it while driving in gear cuz it's too loud or if it just doesn't exist...I definetly hear it in neutral tho'. So...what could it be, or is it just one of the noises this car makes?

What he said, and annoying

Normal and annoying (at times) I've noticed that after sitting in neutral for a little while mine will get quiet. Other than that anyone have any ideas on fixing it?

Not the throw-out bearing, that is only engaged when the clutch pedal is going to/on the floor. Your problem is not a problem, its been discussed and its the "now Famous" Gear roll-over noise that comes with this (and other transmissions). In neutral, foot off the pedal it wails nicely but no one has seemed to have a long-term problem with it...., either have I. Sounds like hell though.

Am I right, please confirm for the record.

Great,

Jeff B.

Ok....I have it like everyone else and am now used to it. BUT............I can hear that exact same noise while driving, except it changes with RPM. It's not loud, but I notice it now that I've had the car since OCT 03. Turning off the a/c, closing windows, I typically hear it while accelerating thru the 2500-4500 rpm range, below that it's too quiet, above that too many other nioses drown it out. But it's definitely a bearing type noise!

So....I hear that noise while driving, is this something I should be concerned about.
<sorry about the thread hi-jack>
