Tools required for Flywheel install.
Hey,
I'm looking to install the ACT prolite and counterweight by myself, and am getting a little confused on what tools everyone says are absolutely necessary. I have the service manual, and they do use a lot of special service tools for the install. I was just wondering what are the minimum tools I could get away with?

Well first off, i just performed this procedure yesterday so its pretty fresh in my mind, and it took 2 people over 6 hours..btw Make sure you have a full mechanics toolset to begin with and an airgun+compressor moves things along MUCH faster. Im guessing you have access to a lift? If so, a transmission lift is ever so helpful, we personally didnt use one, but it would have made the job go by quicker, if not safer. Now im not sure what to call the "giant wrench" thing that you use to take the flywheel nut off, but you cant do it without it. Someone else can probably tell you what its called and where to get one. Good luck man.. im still sore from it..
**EDIT** The "tools that i listed that i didnt know the names of are the Flywheel Nut Wrench and Flywheel Stopper Bar both of which can be found on Racing Beats website.

It doesn't say anywhere in here that you wrote a DIY, I'm not sure what you're talking about. A DIY is a series of step-by-step instructions usually accompanied by pictures.

Wow, very sorry, when you said that you didnt believe anyone has done one yet, i had thought you meant the flywheel change. Then realized that thats just stupid and of course people have done this before. Sorry about that.

You'll need racingbeats flywheel stopper, and puller tools. Order a new throwout bearing, I could never get the pilot or transmission ring bearings out so unless you have a creative way of doing that don't bother with getting those.
If you plan on leaving the tranny fluid in then you'll need to plug the hole at the other side of the tranny rag and ducktape works well enough.
Make sure you you take apart the dash pieces above before it gets on the lift as the shifter will of course come out with the tranny.
You'll need a pump to get the tranny fluid in or a really long funnel with a hose on the end.
Full mechanics tool chest is nessesary, and air tools make it go quicker, helpful to have another hand as well get a buddy.
