tire problem need good advice
OK guys I need new tires ASAP but don't have the cash for it now. My backs are in pretty bad shape, should I put the backs in the front and the fronts in the back. Its not fun driving when its pouring and you go around a turn and the rear loses grip and slides (fun yes but not when u r on public streets) My Whole? Should I rotate My tires, or leave them for now till I get new tires?

Most tire manufacturers will highly suggest putting new tires in the rear. Simply because when are car starts to lose control, you feel it in the front and compensate for it. By the time you feel it in the rear, you've already lost control beyond the point in which most people can re-gain it. I highly suggest you put your best tires in the rear, don't want you messing up your '8. When you do get the new ones, I highly suggest mitchelin pilot sport a/s. I went with 245/45/r18, and gained quite a bit of grip. It handles in the rain better than most cars do in the snow, and unlike the stock ones, it will handle more than 1/8th of an inch of snow.

My opinion is to leave the fronts where they are. While living in SoFla I was in the same boat as you, and moved the good tires to the rear of my Miata, and treadless ones on the front. It was great for traction, but as you mentioned, your tail likes to wag a lot. However, I got caught in a summer downpour on Military Trail doing 45 mph and went to change lanes... the fronts were completely hydroplaning and I basically lost steering and my ABS was useless. I hydroplaned across 3 lanes of traffic and glanced the curb with both wheels... which scared the **** out of me, not to mention screwed up my wheels and alignment.
I won't do that ever again- and since you live in same tropical rainbelt, I don't recommend you sacrifice your safety. Just get new tires ASAP.
