Time stamp on a fault codes...?
Just wondering if our cars record/save time stamps on fault codes when they are displayed? ...even after the battery has been disconnected?
Long story short, I had my oil cooler lines replaced at the dealership (first mistake) and now I have an airbag light on and a squeaky steering wheel. They claimed the light was on when the car was dropped off and are refusing to take responsibility for it. I figured if I could somehow show the light turned on after the time I had dropped it off, it would prove that they're at fault.
This is just scratching the surface as to the poor experience this whole process has been. I plan on contacting Mazda Motor Corp directly about this dealerships shenanigans.
Also did some searching on it, sounds like it could be clockspring related. However, I don't think it should be my problem to have to figure out and fix.
Thanks for reading my rant. I appreciate any advice.

there is some kind of time stamp on the code, but i think its relative to the last time the ecu was reset and not like a day/month/year. pretty sure the ecu has no way of knowing that stuff.
its been years since i had a check engine light!

Just unhook tthe battery for an hour and see if it comes back. It's entirely possible there is a problem and it happened circumstantially rather than being caused by the dealership. Otherwise regarding your dissatisfaction overall it sounds like the typical experience.
I have a good clockspring if you think that's the issue.

It also turns out my horn and steering wheel controls aren't working either.
