Time period between oil changes???

Hi all

I have seen many posts about how many miles or Km's people go before changing the oil. With that said, how much time can you let pass before changing the oil if you are not using the car much?

I am only doing about 500 k'm every 6 months max, the car is started every week and run to temperature and given a good run to keep it running smooth, but I def don't do 3 or 7 thousand miles.

Can I change the oil and filter once a year or every 6 months? Its just getting expensive if I am not using the car and have to keep changing it every 6 months.

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

I would stick to twice a year if it were me but I'm sure you could go yearly if you really wanted. You can get a jug of oil and a filter for around $20(not sure about Australia) so it really isn't that expensive. I know your prices will be a bit higher than that but your minimum wage is also higher so it should somewhat even out?

I only run my car in the summer, at least two changes during those 5 months, or every 2K Miles which ever comes first.

I wont run my 8 if the oil is older than 3 months tho.

6 months is fine, maybe even a little on the conservative side unless your crankcase is absorbing an abnormal amount of moisture.
