Throttle Body question

I need to clean the Throttle Body on my 8. I bought a Throttle Plate & Carb Cleaner. In the instructions says that I need to turn on the car (not the engine) and press and hold the accelerator to keep the throttle plate open to spray the cleaner inside the TB. If I do that, will be the engine flooded? Can I just push the throttle plate manually to spray the cleaner?

Thanks

Quite the opposite. Holding the throttle in is actually part of the recovery procedure for a flooded engine.

RU,

first of all, return that **** and get a "fuel injection" cleaner! carb cleaners may be harmful to some parts and sensors in a fuel injected car. no go...

with the appropriate cleaner spray, you may hold the throttle open manually if you don't mind getting it all over your hands. so wear gloves!

and don't just stop at the TB. unfortunately for rotaries, the junk will travel down the induction system and land on only one side of the rotor face, making cleaning uneven.

being a MAF (mass air flow) sensor'd car, and a rotary at that, cleaning becomes MORE difficult for a thorough job. so it should be followed up with a cleaner in a form of a bottle, a fluid tube and a control ****.

there are various procedures. and the choice of cleaner seems to be "seafoam". so search that up, and find the best procedure that fits your cleaning order. it'll be too long a post to state all possible follow up procedures here...

Yes, just use a little bit and you'll be fine.

In that case I'll follow the instructions, thanks.

I'll use the 3M Do-It-Yourself Fuel System Tune-Up Kit now and the Seafoam after the next 10,000 miles to compare wich one works better for me.

The seafoam videos on youtube are through the vacuum, engine oil and gas tank.
