Temporarily Disabling Driver's Door Switch
I found this rocker and installed it to interrupt the driver's door switch. When I'm detailing the car and listening to tunes it makes the car think the driver door is closed and turns off the chime. When I'm done I can flip the rocker to reenable the door switch so it functions normally.

Not much. I pulled loose the bottom of the rear door panel (did not need to remove) and drilled a small hole on the side for the rocker. There is a single white/red wire going to the switch in the rear door. I cut that wire, then wired the rocker switch in line. I bought the switch at Radio Shack (275-693).

Nice neat job with the switch. 
However, for owners with less DIY skills who don't need this ability all that often, you can always use a low-tech el-cheapo solution like mine.....
I'm sure that that most owners could obtain a similar part from a branch near them...
