I have an '04 rx8 6mt GT with leather/bose, basically every option but navi... and I don't have the two heater buttons on the center console..... I have never seen an rx8 with leather without these... is it possible that the center piece was changed by mazda or the last owner (i am the 2nd owner) or was it possible to not get heated seats on a GT with leather? I searched and found nothing

yes they absolutely do. There is not an OEM leather seat that is not heated.

 

For 04 and 05, the factory leather seat (leather + vinyl pieces) would be ribbed for pieces on the left and right of the seat. 06'+ are smooth.

Factory driver leather seat is also powered, cloth seats are not, so check that too.

One other possibility is seat was swapped out for factory leather seats and faux leather door panels, if this is the case, then you have the heating elements, but not wired up due to lack of switch and wiring, but that's a lot more money involved, so less likely.

my drivers seat isnt power, the seat backs are leather too... its nice leather... not ribbed on the sides ...and theres no way it had cloth seats before... I have the Gt package with hid headlight, sunroof, ground effects, bose, etc... this is really weird

 

Wow, that's weird.

From the leather on the back, it sounds like an 06+seat. However I can fairly safely say that I have never heard of a Canadian GT without power driver seat, or heaters.

Out of curiosity, is there a map pocket on the back of the passenger's seat? How about the driver's?

(I'm thinking that you may have two passenger's seats.) Edit... maybe forget that, i forgot about the airbag.

 

Sounds like a touring model that has had the cloth seats recovered; I've seen a lot of that.

 

touring models had hid xenon lights a sunroof and bose sound? im at the dealer now getting an oil change. they are looking through all the history to see if the center console has ever been replaced... still doesn't explain the manual seat though

 

you have a touring that had the seats converted to leather.

 

everything smells like a touring model to me...

especially when you are describing the seats .

and yes, the touring CAN have all those options. they are simply missing leather iirc.

Me thinks you don't have the GT pkg, do you have the window sticker for the car?
Both of my cars still had the sticker in the car and that will tell ya for sure.

 

Oh yeah if they are not powered seats you don't have a GT.

no it doesnt. he said his drivers seat isnt powered. its manual.

no OEM seat is leather and not powered. he has aftermarket leather on it.

no the heaters are not there they are built in to the seats that come with heated leather

 

the heaters arent there. the wiring is.

if you were to get some OEM leather seats, they'd come with the heaters in it and you could just plug it in. because the wiring is there.

however, you'd have no way to turn it on. you'd need the center console and buttons as well.
