I found a measurable difference in 0-60 times with the DCS and TCS off as reported above. My manufacturing date was September, 2003.

Manufacture July 2003

I noticed the difference, do you guys also get the car losing traction light come on permanently when you long hold the DSC button. This only goes off when I turn the engine off then back on.

Just curious.

yeah, we get that. It just tells you the TCS is disabled. The only way to reactivate it is to restart the car, which you have done.

Well, just to join the fray ... I concur that there is a noticable performance improvement with TCS OFF... mine's an Auto ... on a side note, our Odyssey also has TCS, but is disabled by default (press to activate)... and I can "feel" (geez ... sound like a liberal) a difference there too between the 2 settings.

I 'd like to suggest that those "not" experiencing the improved response sans TCS may have something seriously wrong with their 8 and should have it checked out immediately ;-) ... meanwhile the rest of us get a little bigger smile with "5 seconds" of effort.

I just started driving with TCS/DSC off and love it so far .

Do any of you who have been driving with both off have any gas mileage data comparing both off to both on? I'll post my MPG next week when I've gone through my first tank with both off.

Thanks,

I tried for the first time DSC/TCS OFF.

I usually do for half tank average 150 - 160 km.

I did with DSC/TCS OFF 190km a gain of 30 km for half tank. Not bad.

For the power, I do fell it faster, but is it in my head.??? I hope not. Still testing it!

Simon.

I got 18 miles per gallon withe the DSC/TCS off. Now I'm going to try it with it on, then I might try it off again with a lower grade of fuel. This may take awhile.

I tried the DSC in the 'semi-off' mode a few times...not too much difference. Then this evening I went for a drive and completely turned it off and this is just my observations.

1) There was a distinct difference leaving the stop light. I never broke it loose leaving the light but the was the impending threat of it there. There was more pull from the feel of the road I would say..a little shimmy here and there that I normally do not feel.

2) distinctly pronounced chirping from 1st to 2nd (moreso than normal which I do often). Noticeable harder pulling but clearer loss of traction in the shift.

3) of course I observed the back end slide on the corner. Still handled nicely but not the 'ride on rails' I'm used to.

4) Odd feeling of less stopping power while moderate braking occurred. Could just be me but I try hard to be in 'tune' with my car and there was a difference. (course I could also be a complete lune....also likely).

Just my 2 cents.

Nah, I don't think so. I've observed some of the same things and I'm questioning my sanity too . So I think we're okay :D.

I got 19.9 mpg on my first tank with both TCS/DSC off. This is a bit over my normal average of about 19.2 mpg. I'll need to collect more data before making any broad conclusions.
