Oh god ...
Rotarygod proved, hmm at least he said he's been using Synth for long *** time and his engine has yet to blow up and kill him in instant.
Forget about RG, lots of people use Synth and they're all still alive (their rotary as well)
but people like ASH8, which has no "prove" that Synth will(is?) causing failures.
and people with dead rotary, cannot prove that if its the Synth Oil causing failures or not.
Answer ? Its very obvious.

Hmmm.... I might have to switch from Mobil 1
Although I'm not sure I understand why miscibility with fuel is important. The goal of the oil metering is to supply a steady supply to the housing, where resistance to washing away doesn't seem such a bad thing.... or is it?? Hmmm... maybe a certain amount of washing/renewal is the key?
Ah well, I will defer to Yamaguchi-san

Kudos to RG for all his efforts to demonstrate the feasibility of synthetic oil in rotaries! I had already made the decision to switch to Royal Purple after I saw the amount of oil temp decrease compared to dino (I live in one of the hot climates).

btw: I need to post my picture with Yamamoto-san, Yamaguchi-san, and Koby-san. Those are the Mazda people who I've been talking to for 2 days and the ones I've spoken to about synthetic oils in the rotary and I personally know Engman and Downing and trust their opinion highly.
I even won a raffle at the banquet which was a new book written by Koby. Of course it is in all Japanese but there are only about a half a dozen of those books in this country and mine is signed!

Last time I recalled Kenichi Yamamoto retired some years ago, how long ago did you have your photo taken and where was the location. Email me with a copy priz@lizzy.com.au.
I had not heard of Mr.Yamaguchi, again your photo would enlighten me.
I remember visiting the prefecture (suburb) of Yamaguchi, Japan where the Mazda Hofu plant is located.

Edited to add more detailed info.
OK Koby is probably the most famous RX-7 affiliated person in the world. His full name is Takaharu "Koby" Kobayakawa. He has been involved with Mazda in various ways over many years but his last hoora was with the 3rd gen RX-7 and as program manager for Mazda's competition activites in the 90's. You are thinking of a different Yamamoto than who was there. Kenichi has been retired for a long time. Yamamoto and Yamaguchi are pretty common names in Japan. Nobuhiro Yamamoto has worked on the rotary engine project for nearly 30 years and was most recently the development engineer for the 3rd gen RX-7 13B-REW engine, the Renesis, and the race rotaries of the 90's. He's the guy I talked to about synthetic oils. This was last Saturday night at Sevenstock 8 in California. The news can't be any more up to date than that. I can't remember Yamaguchi's first name right now.
Here is a picture of me, Ajax, and Brillo taken with Koby and Yamaguchi Saturday morning posted in the Sevenstock section. Left to right; Ajax, Brillo, Koby, Yamaguchi, me. The picture of Yamamoto and his engine crew is from the banquet but drkilljoy has those pictures. I need to get them from him. Yamaguchi accidentally told us that he is currently working on the development of the 2nd generation RX-8's transmission. Oops!

BTW: Was the 8s 2nd gen tranny development an auto or manual box.
Cheers
