Question Suggestions please (e-manage vs. REVi)

I'm about to make a couple small purchases for my 8. I currently only have a GReddy exhaust for power mods (if you want to call it that) so I'm pretty much stock. I already plan to purchase the Bonez midpipe & cat, but I'm not sure what other item I want to get. I'm torn between the REVi intake and E-manage. I know the intake will be a simpler mod but I like the potential the E-manage has.

Unfortunately I've never done any sort of engine tuning so I'm not sure how easy it's going to be for me to get decent power with it. My other dilemma is my (very hopeful) plans of turboing my car this winter, where the emanage comes with the kit. So there's my situation. They both are around the same price so unless I need to purchase a lot more stuff to just get the emanage to work, price isn't really an issue.

Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance.

Well if you turbo the car, I'm not sure your going to be able to keep the intake. You may be able to fit everything in there. That could put you $300 closer to your turbo at any rate.

I do not believe you will be able to keep the REVi if you FI the car. If you are looking for most bang for the buck, get the eManage. I have both the REVi and eManage (CZ Unit actually, same thing) and they are working beautifully together. Tuning can take some time but the results are not mistakable. I believe short of buying FI or NOS, the eManage or CZ is the best power mod out there.

i went for teh Revi myself. great unit everybody who has it loves it. with the emanage and other tuning options i was very hesitant b/c i have no tuning experience...adn it costs a good deal to get it tuned at a shop. didn't feel liek the hasle.....granted when i get my turbo the intake will most likly not work with it...but who knows that is a ways off...if i can't get it too work i'll just sell in on here :D.

good luck with your decision th1rd3y3

I want to dispel this misnomer that tuning is a great hassle. Yes at the beginning when there was not much knowledge on the subject it took a lot of time. Now there is plenty of information in the Canzoomer forum on how to do it. Just make sure you have the proper cables and software and it you can have your 8 tuned in half a day.

As an added benefit to getting back the power that was lost by Mazda, you will get better gas mileage.

That's cool thanks for the input guys, if I were to purchase the e-manage, I know there are a lot of add-ons for it. Aside from the unit itself, what else would you suggest purchasing? I do plan on buying the harness just because I don't like the idea of chopping up my stock harness, but any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm also leaning to the emanage because it will give me some time to get used to it before I turbo.

i would actually suggest just going to the for sale forum and buying a used cz unit with tuning kit (usually going for ~$300 these days) instead of getting an actual e-manage.

You'll save some money and with the used CZ ,you don't have to hack your harnass, it comes with the ignition harnass and diodes to protect your coils from burning (the greddy kit doesn't even touch the ignition timing and the e-manage will cook your coils if not modded), and you can download numerous maps from people that will give you an excellant starting point... then when you go turbo just resell it and get most of your money back.
