PA Strange Whine Problem

Alright, I've had my rx8(2004 Velocity Red GT 6 speed) from 50k miles to 63k atm and haven't had any problems at all and i love the car, so i might be just paranoid or over sensitive to the issue, but here it is.

I didn't notice anything until after dropping my friend off, I had done some pretty fun driving on the way there, but nothing horrid or anything like that, revved it up and hopped my tires once, which i haven't done in ages cause i like my clutch and i just got new tires, haha.

Anyway, on the way home, i noticed that when im coasting and not on the throttle, there is a high pitched whine (mostly noticable between 20-40 mph). The noise doesn't change at all whether or not im in gear, or have the clutch in or out, it only goes away when i give it gas.

I took it to the dealer and had a tech ride along and he says he doesn't think its the diff because of that and because there weren't any leaks or anything like that, he said he just thinks it's normal wear and tear on the car but isn't 100% sure. I really don't want it to be wear and tear because i don't like the noise, lol.

So, any suggstions about what it could be or what to do?

It could simply be the transmission noise. The RX8 transmission is rather noisy. Sometimes you can hear noise from the tranny when you're in a low load situation (like cruise or very slight throttle).

It's normally the sound of the gear teeth floating (not sure how else to describe it) instead of being locked solid under throttle.

I get all sorts of strange tranny noises at partial throttle.

bump.

Sorry guys but I was searching for a member that maybe had the same issues as me.

I know whining is normal, but my drivetrain has a problem, my car sounds like a raid siren when Im off the throttle.

Still shifts fine but whines very loudly and now my rear sprung a leak and it whines lightly when Im ON THE THROTTLE.

All this happened within 2 months, everything went to hell.

Any idea guys?

How many miles on your car and the last time you had the tranny and diff fluids changed?
