Strange Behavior??

Has anyone noticed that there odometer and trip meters don't seem to stay syncronized during aggressive driving at track days. The trip meter said I went 463Km at the last track day...and the odometer changed only 190 Km.

Does the trip and odometer use different imputs??

I get a lot of wheelspin...but come on...this is really strange...I don't get it

Any Ideas????

hrm... so that means if you drive it like you stole it.. people will think you have less miles than you really do... interesting...

No, it will mean that you have exactly as many miles as you really do. The ECU is correcting for wheelspin.

So that is why my mileage doesn't change much when it is driven hard.

It just means that the trip meter seems to be inaccurate when the car is driven hard.
Don't think it's totally to do with wheelspin...cause that's a lot of spin

That doesn't make sense though, wouldn't it be running off the odometer or the same sensor that feeds the odometer?

About the only simple explanation I can come up with is if one accidentally bumped the button to switch from Trip A to Trip B. If one started out with Trip A zeroed, but Trip B had 273 km showing -- then over the course of the next 190 km, accidentally switched from A to B -- that would explain the discrepancy.

Unlikely, but it's the best I can come up with.

^^ Nope...I don't get it either......A/B the same. May be a problem with my car??

I noticed it my first track day at Portland...Trip said I went 420Km on about a third of a tank of fuel...about 150 miles per gallon.....NOT LIKELY

It only does it on the track though......I track all my other mileage

Too funny...not selling anything...just trying to see if anyone has any idea what could be up with this....It's happened three times that I noticed this year. The first two track days I didn't pay attention....

I suppose the easiest way to find out is to pull a Ferris Bueller and jack up the back of the car and see if the odometer stays the same (meaning it goes off of a sensor on the front tire).

Anyone notice that in reverse the trip meter still goes up?

No.

Then again, I can't say I travel very far in reverse. Maybe 10 or so meters a day, tops.

I only noticed it because I backed down a dead end road since it did not have a good turn around at the end. It's a bit of a rush driving 30mph in reverse at night.

Was taken aback that it kept going up after I was reversing. I guess I noticed it because of Ferris Bueller.
