Steering harder to turn right compared to left
Steering harder to turn right compared to left
My steering on my RX8 seems a little harder to turn right than when turning left, there is not a massive difference but noticeable, it still turns smooth lock to lock just always turning the steering wheel right it just feels harder.
Any ideas? anyone?

Thanks for reply, I did do a search and read some threads but do not think they relate to my problem.
The problem I have is not a total failure, or do any warning lights come up, if turning the steering wheel to the left to full lock it is fine, light if I turn it from full lock left to the right it feels heavier, not heavy as in total failure of power steering just a little heavier, but quite noticeable. so still assisted but not as much as the turning left.

Not saying this is necessarily your problem but I did have a similar complaint.
That is how my problems began. Increasing difficulty turning to one side. That progressed into an apparent tendency to pull to the "easy" side while driving. After monkeying around with the dealer and wheel alignments and finally having the power steering go out altogether I found the thread above. My problem turned out to be the upper connector on the problematic harness. I had temporary relief from resoldering the pins, then finally permanent fix by hard-soldering the wires together. No problems since.

Where is the upper connector, I have looked and cleaned the ones under the intake tray
Mine did the same, and on occasion the power steering will go out completely, but come back on.
If any mechanic talks to you about it - explain that it is an ELECTRIC power steering unit, so the whole thing needs to be replaced. Mine found out there was a leak of the oil that happened into the power steering unit and that is why it went out (or something).

The complete fix contains 4 items
- replace the Power steering rack and pinion
- replace the PS wiring
- clean and Replace the connector, pin on the harness side.
- relocate the overflow tank pressure outlet
I did all 4 to couple of 8 I fixed, no problems since.
