Steering angle sensor location myth.

Steering angle sensor location myth.
I've been doing some research into the interrelations and dependency of the various electrical systems, mainly in relation to the EPS.
I noticed in multiple threads that people referred to the Steering Angle Sensor as being part of the Steering Rack, some directly and other indirectly stated that failure of the Steering Angle Sensor requires the replacement of the Steering Rack assembly.
But the Steering Angle Sensor only seems to be present in those model with DSC, and is in fact intergated in the Combination Switch at the top of the Steering Column in those models. It doesn't appear to have any relationship to the operation of the EPS, it is simply a supplementary sensor that the DSC Controller requires to operate.
I'm guessing that when people talk about issue with EPS malfunctioning and sensor failure they are in fact talking about a Torque Sensor, which is part of the steering rack or is at least mounted to it, the EPS Controller is directly reliant on the Torque Sensor, so it's failure could require the replacement of the Steering Rack assembly.
Don't know if this information is of any interest to anyone else, but I figured I'd share it to save others from scratching there heads try to work it out themselves.
