Starting Issue

Starting Issue
Has anyone out there had this issue?
If I do not start the car on the first twist of the key then the car will not start and the starter only clicks (as though the battery is flat). I've had it tested and the battery is fine. I've now spent £515 ($1000) replacing the alternator but still I have the issue.
Has anyone had this?
I checked with the dealer and my car has had all the recall work done. Apparently this includes repalcing the starter (or upgrading the software apparently). It's as though after the first twist there isin't enough power in the battery to turn the starter.
Any thoughts????

Bad battery or a bad connection between the battery and starter.
I've had people test bad batteries and proclaim them to be good. Especially if it was the place I bought the battery and they'd be on the hook for a warranty replacement.
If your alternator was bad, then at some point your battery would have been drained flat. That's not good for it.

Do some quick checks. Measure the battery voltage with the car off and with it running. Off, it should be at least 12 volts...ideally around 12.7. Running, it should be around 14 volts. If it's around 14, your alternator and regulator are good.
Next time you have the starting problem, immediately measure the battery voltage. If it's down, then the battery is bad. If it's over 12 volts, you've probably got a bad cable or connection.
