Spark Plug/New Motor Question

Does anyone know......?????

When the dealership replaces a motor, do they put in new spark plugs or are the old ones retained. I could see them being replaced in a piston motor due to the low cost, but since ours cost a whole lot more, are they reused to save money??

I've got 34500 miles on the car now, about 4000 miles on the new motor. I was thinking it may be time to change the plugs, but wanted to get my fellow rotorhead's ideas before I dish out the cash.

I think I may stop by the dealership that did the work tomorrow to ask them too.

Thanks, Friends!!

the correct way is to replace the plugs with the motor... that is how it is supposed to happen.. it is in the manual...

that is how it happened in my motor change..

My motor did not come with new plugs. They put the older ones back in much to my disapproval.

Same here. All they ship is a motor - everything else is carried over. Cheap insurance - call the dealer and ask.

I bet those that got old plugs swapped had their new plugs go into the pockets of the techs.
That is an $80+ windfall for the enterprising(read:thieving) tech.

Easy_E1 took that picture here in Phoenix (at Berge Mazda). That was his first replacement motor, which lasted 3 days.

The tag is the usual warning about checking/changing the fluids, IIRC.

how long ago??? i find it a bit odd. i thought all the remans came from the same place...

but mine was not painted like that...

wonder if that might of been one of the first new motors before the rebuilding started..

puzzled..

First, let me say " I Hate Dealerships "
Second, let me say " I Hate Dealerships "

Thirdly, I called the dealership and their answer was "Well, they should have....." My reply was, "should have, or did?" The guy put my on hold for 10 minutes, I got disconnected, called back and he said that there was nothing in their Apple IIE that said that the sparkplugs were replaced.

He said that the Mazda Techs were out to lunch and to call back in an hour if I want a better answer.

I know it's not just me that hate's dealerships. Somehow we need to revolutionize the way that car dealerships are run. They treat their customers like they're doing us a favor; as if we're at their mercy.

Let's make some changes people!!

Back to reality.......I guess the only real way I'm gonna find out is to take the plugs out and look.
