Hello. Just bought another rx-8 that came with addiotanal spareparts from old engine that has just been replaced because it needed a rebuild.
These housings that came with it tho look shady... What are these holes in the waterseal groove? Last rebuild I did on my own engine I dont remember seeing anything similar on mine and never seen these online before.
Some people suggested JB welding them and griding them down to be flat. The apex surface on the housings are almost mint so would be a shame to throw these out.

Are those cracks emanating out from the holes? Looks like the housing might be separating there. Might not be as pristine a sealing surface as it appears if it's bowing in and separating from the rest of the housing somehow...

Ill check them closer and try to "clean up" once I go back to my garage to do some work.
If I remember correctly it was just some old sealing material / filth. Ill use some good ol' motor cleaner and some harsher rags to clean those grooves and see whats going on..
