someone explain these stupid headlights to me

so I have the auto adjusting HID's. I just had 1 whole headlight assembly replaced, and now both are way off and angled at the ground, way to low. Sometimes they are at the right height, and then that stupid light on the dash shows up and they are way off......how do you adjust these stupid things so they stay in on damn place?

Who replaced it? The adjusters are on the suspension.

Could be several things going on. First, there is a manual adjustment for the headlights, to set the base level. Then as you drive, sensors in the suspension are used to adjust the aim from that level to compensate for loading. For example, you have 2 rear seat passengers and stuff in the trunk. This would normally lower the rear of the car and make the lights shine too high. Since HID are powerful and tend to glare, a self-levelling system avoids blinding oncoming traffic.

So, yes, the self-levelling system could have a problem. But it sounds like your problem just started after you had one assembly replaced. In that case, it is more likely that a mistake was made when they adjusted the manual setting for the lights. See the attached image -- if the adjustment is made improperly, the headlights can come out of adjustment on their own.
