Yeah, that's the reason

It's the single biggest reason to constantly use dealers for service. You build a rep with them and they are willing to stretch the rules or warranties etc... to cover you in a moment of need. Plenty of stories like that, and it makes business sense. You feed them money and they have every reason to try to keep you as a customer.

It's not enough of a reason for me personally to get my car serviced at a dealer, but I believe I've saved more money than I've lost in the long run from not having that special relationship.

well i go for oil changes and thats usually it. if they notice anything that might be of issue, they usually point it out and i let them know ill have it taken care of. next time i see them ive done whatever they brought up and made sure to have it documented for myself and for their records. I'm also patient with them when getting my car serviced.

edit: i usually notice the things before they do, however one example is i took my car in for the oil change two days before i did my rear brake pads. I told them i already got the pads and ill be installing them two days later. after getting them installed i passed by the dealer to say hello, tell them the car was running well, and they didnt put the car through inspection since it was pointless but they did at least see i did replace the pads. the same happened after i changed the coils and plugs.

Glad you got it all sorted!

First rule I drove into my wifes head when we took home the RX8.

I asked her if she ever saw me start my 7 and turn it off cold, she said no she hears it idling in the drive for 10-15 minutes when I start it. I sometimes wash it while it is running then do a "blow dry" on it.

Never start a rotary then turn it off cold, they HATE that.

Oh and a big +1 to going there for routine maint. while I am a huge DIY type and I am pretty sure I am already considered a PITA after my first oil change. We argued over oil weight, I told them do not put that thin **** in my engine, put the heavier stuff in. I really wanted 10W40 but we agreed on 5W30. Which I am not 100% happy with. It is damn hot here in Florida, I only run 20W50 in my 7.

Good for you, the dealership did right by you. Glad you learned your lesson.

thing is, ill honestly admit ive known about it, and i know it causes flooding. for whatever reason i just said screw it and shut it off super cold. i could say i blame it on having only been awake for about 60 seconds at the time (woken up to move my car out of the way), and i was running on 3 hours of sleep, but fact is i still knew about it and shut it off cold. now i use it as an excuse to drive around for a bit as a nice goodmorning wake up and to avoid flooding
