When i got new tires we found that my driver side tire pressure monitor was broke. I took it to the dealership but unfortunately they won't replace/fix it. I guess the person who owned the car before me put on rims that weren't designed for the car. And they ended up just putting some black stuff on it to make it stick in there. We found it was broke when my new tire kept losing air. They want to charge me $30 per tire to remove the other 3 sensors. I have done some research and haven't been to find out if this is something we have to have or not. I notice that even though the light will blink everytime i drive I am NOT losing air. Just wanted to get the views of others on here.

If you remove them and just put in regular valves you will be fine. It doesn't do anything special and the tires won't lose air if they aren't there. All it does is tell you if your tires are properly inflated. You can just check them with a tire gauge if you don't have the TPMS. If you don't care about seeing the light then there isn't any reason to have them. There is also a DIY for stopping the light from coming on, but from what I've heard it doesn't work for every car.

The reason they are going to charge that much is because you need new valves so they have to dismount the tire, change the valves and then rebalance the tires without the TPMS weight there.

yeah that's what I figured they would have to do. They were nice about it. I check my tires every week and they are fine. The light just annoys me. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I DIRE needed you know?


I also have another question

what mods have people done to stop wheel hopping? I tried to find some info on this as well but I couldn't exactly find anything. I have the stock strut bar

If you want to read more, just do an advanced search for the words "wheel hop" and use the titles only option. That should give you a good amount of info. It comes down to better shocks/rear sway and better launching techniques.


As for the light, check out this link, its worth a try to get rid of it. Or you could put a black sticker over it.
