Seriously frustrated... pilot bearing removal.

So, going on FOUR weekends trying to get this stupid clutch and flywheel replaced after Performance Madza Houston lied to me saying my stock clutch was bad, and tried to charge me 1800.00 for it.

I FINALLY got the new flywheel on and NOW ive had to wait for a pilot bearing puller so i can get THAT off. Unfortunately I can't get that to go into the hole right and everybody on teh internet assumes i was born with the knowledge of how to use this tool cause nobody has any documentation on it and there is no instruction sheet that came with it. So my question is this:

Do i need to take the new flywheel BACK off to get the pilot bearing out with the MazdaTrix pilot bearing removal tool?

And if not how the heck do i use this thing?

What?
You just insert the jaw assembly through the bearing, and turn it to open the jaws until its fully open.
These pics show the bearing installed on my bearing puller and the jaws opened behind it.

And reach all the way to what threads?

I was about to suggest you leave the bearing alone if its still in good condition, but nevermind now...
I can't think of a logical reason to use a hammer in this situation.
Depending on how the jaws were positioned when you started hammering, its likely you damaged the bearings and now have no choice but to remove it.

Yup... its a Harbor Freight puller.
I've used it a couple times with no problems, though it does take many "hits" to get it out.
I find it easier to lay on my back and grab the slide hammer with both hands and slide it.

Great thanks for the info, I try to buy the 1 time use tools at harbor freight. Not to thread jack, but I wouldn't want to start a job without the right tool.

To the OP just buy one of these from harbor freight and give it a try with the right tool.

Thing is... the tool MazdaTrix sells to remove the pilot bearing is a slide hammer, or at least thats what it shows on their site.
Maybe a pic from the OP would help clarify... never know, he could have accidentally bought the pilot bearing and seal installation tool (which I too have).

Okay, all is good. Turns out that the MazdaTrix pullers threads were messed up on arrival which is why we could never screw it on. Luckily we have a tap and dye set and just remachined the threads and it fit perfect. Now i have teh tranny back on and im replacing the fluid. Afterwards i will put the exhaust back on and start her up and hope i did everything right.

To anybody who wants to replace a clutch and flywheel themselves:

Just make sure you have all the tools required and you research it before hand. Don't be like me, watch some guy's 7 minute video on here posted in the DIY section labeled "clutch and flywheel replacement" and think you have everything. Cause that video should be titled "Summary of clutch and flywheel replacement" as it does not tell you any of the most important things you need to know in order for this to go smoothly. It makes it worse if you're a complete noob like myself but we did it!! so it IS possible

Glad to hear it worked out.
Was the oil seal reusable?
Tap & die sets are a life saver.

It sounds like you damaged the threads when you were hammering the slide hammer. That would definitely mess up the threads!
