I'm of two minds on the distance issue; if you're seeing 340 miles on a tank of fuel, both your fuel and your fun gauges must be pegged completely on empty.
I did manage to get 19.8mpg on the way from Bend to Portland while maintaining a good level of fun, once, but that's eeking out 300 per tank.
I guess the good news is that 300 per tank is still possible on curvy roads.

Any doubters can check.my sevenstock trip thread, i posted a mileage detail and summary from all my fillup info. 8,330 miles i averaged 19.## a gallon. Not just the best i saw. Hit 22+ several times,
24.## once. 13.99 once too.
Several points in eastern OR, northern NV, and UT i thought about a larger tank pretty seriously.
