#1 is the traditional solution. I'd just be leery about whether it might affect the air bag system.

I dislike the belt chime. Too much of reminder of 1974, when cars had that accursed interlock system. (Yes - I had a 1974 car.) I always buckle up, but hate the chime thinking that I'm some kind of moron who needs to be reminded.

I have a 2004 and I have the chime, is there a DIY for removing it when you have harnesses in the car?
