Rx8 using a lot of gas

My rx8 is using more gas than it used to! I thought it was because of my air filter, but I put in a K&N air filter and its still using a ton of gas. At first it was doing fine when I replaced the air filter, but now its using a lot of gas. I filled up half a tank and used it all in about 30 miles or so. Any suggestions to make my rx8 get its MPG back?

Wait wait wait half a tank in 30 miles
15.9/2=7.95
30/7.95=3.77mpg
I think you have a hole in your gas tank.

Thats what it seems like! Im pissed. $60 in 3.5 days is too much money to use on gas especially since I drive only to school and back (10 miles)

dont drive it as much, if your looking for good gas mileage check your local listings for a toyota prius

that's crazy.. i would refil at a different station before jumping to conclusion. The first pump might have been way off or you put in less then you thought

Ive put gas in it three times already at two different gas stations (Chevron and Shell).

thats completely retarded. even with new plugs/coils/wires it wont improve so much if its that bad. I changed all mine and i still get 180 miles to a tank.

But yours is just ridiculous. Take it to the dealer asap

I think it was my MAF sensor, it looked really dirty so I cleaned it up. Ill find out tomorrow if it helped.

Clean the mass air flow sensor first! If mpg dont imporve then go from there.

Yeah it didn't help. Im going to replace the spark plugs and wires and then coils and then go from there.

Inspect your underbody, exhaust system, O2 sensors, and get a tune up. No CELs?

Also re-examine your driving style. I've gotten as bad as 11 mpgs outta my 09 when really pushin it, but as good as 24 on long highway trips.

A good history of the car's mods may shed some light.

well i get around 16 mpg on the highway i have an 04 automatic and i get 220 miles to the tank i thought mines was bad

may want to check out your fuel system and make sure none of the components are worn out, that could be the problem and you could not know unless you disasemble the system
