Hey, Tex, did you get an itemized estimate? If so, did you glance through it to see if they'd left out anything obvious?

I probably have the line item $10,000+ cost estimate from my deer-impact around here somewhere, we could compare some details.

If you were to type up or scan in the estimate I'm sure there's several knowledgeable people here who could offer advice (heck, there's probably 10 people reading this would could type a better estimate off the pictures than your dip appraiser did so far).

So, with airbag replacement that would be $20k. Tell them to add "depreciation" on account of your lost resale value and when they balk tell them to just total out your car, cut a check and let you get on with getting a new car..... and tell them no dawdling.
