RX8 Compression Calculator for Android and iPhone/iPod
4 Attachment(s)
Dear all,
I've created a simple utility for Android for Renesis compression adjustment (based on previous work of teknics and IOANNIStsa). Don't expect anything fancy though. The utility is only useful for adjusting a compression, don't expect any rating such as IOANNIStsa's. Here it is: https://market.android.com/details?i...tionapps.rx8cc Cheers Update: The iPhone/iPod version has been approved by Apple and can be found here http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rx8-c...7863?ls=1&mt=8 |
What about iPhone? :(
|
Developing apps and having them pushed to the market for the iphone is like trying to pass a kidney stone. Sure, eventually it works out, but boy is it a painful process.

It might be easier for you guys to go get Android phones.
|
you could just keep a pic of the OE diagram too, it's not like you will use it daily or anything and it's not exactly rocket science to reference the point quickly just by sight ...
but then I don't own an electric can opener either |
my compression tester tells me my compression numbers and converts them to 250 rpm on the fly ... oh wait :)

Already working on it, but as paimon.soror said, getting Apple's approval might be a painful process, so be patient and fingers crossed :)
What about if we are jailbroken and use cydia, wouldn't be easier to get it on their apps vs apple? Either way, subbed. |
Yep, unfortunately going through cydia you are losing a lot of public exposure from those who do not have jailbroken devices. Plus, once you have been targeted as developing unlicensed applications, good luck trying to license a product to sell through the apple store in the future.
|
^ That sucks.
|
For those of you that wanted an iPhone/iPod app, check first post for the link :)
@Leejin nothing else (if I understand your question). Apart from doing a compression test on your engine that is. Cheers |
Thank You Sir!

Thank you so much for creating this tool!!

Using PSI as the input values does not seem to be working for me on my Nexus running ICS
|
so... according to this calculator... my readings are out of spec. Not sure if I'm doing this right, so maybe someone can chime in for me. My readings were:
#1 @ 318 RPM 7.8, 7.2, 7.5 #2 @ 318 RPM 7.6, 7.5, 7.6 |

I will check it out. Could you please send me a PM with the values you have tried? |

The bug with PSI adjustment has been fixed.
Many thanks to wcs for reporting the error. |
I can't seem to find a way to delete the saved results.
Am I missing it? |

Am I missing it? There is no functionality right now for deleting saved results in Android application. It will be available in v1.3 (hopefully by the end of the next week). |

Thanks for the fast reply. edit--- Looking forward to the update as I'll be show casing your app at our meet. I've got 10 rx8's to do compression tests on https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/rx8-spring-meet-new-date-april-29th-2012-a-231580/page3/ edit edit ---- Any thoughts of adding altitude compensation? Or using the Nexus built-in barometric pressure sensor? |
v1.3 with delete functionality is available on Google Play.
@wcs never thought about altitude compensation, but does it really matter? Does Mazda take into account altitude when evaluating a compression? |

@wcs never thought about altitude compensation, but does it really matter? Does Mazda take into account altitude when evaluating a compression? Ok ..... ummm does altitude matter Well yes IMO and so does temperature, you could even say instead of altitude to use barometric pressure. Does Mazda compensate for these things? I'm sorry I don't know. Here is the altitude compensation chart that I discovered doing research on other sites and from online "Engine Tech" books https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...5&d=1333996865 I live at 1579 feet so I am interested in compensating for thinner atmosphere. I'm also interested in how you actually calculate the "Normalized" compression value. Example when you have X psi value at Y rpm and you normalize it to 250 rpm. It's obviously not a direct linear value as my numbers never seem the same as yours. Great work man, love the app Cheers |
