RX8 30K Service

Hi i have a 192 RX8 56 reg, shes absolutely brilliant and probably the best car ive ever had.
My question is shes about to hit her 30K service well 50 miles off and my local Furrows Mazda dealer has told me this service will cost £420.
Now if i look at my manual and what this service includes i cant seem to work out why it costs so much.
They have said that they will also be replacing the seals in the Renesis engine? I know this is a huge thing but my manual says nothing about this on any service interval? Any ideas??
Also how do i know if anything on my RX8 has been recalled for replacement?
Thanks

Replacing seals? Huh?

As for why it costs so much: no other reason other than they want to cash in on a nice round mileage number when people who don't know better are willing to pay for some perceived extra service. They have some BS list as "30K service" where 2/3 of the items on the list are "check this and check that", which they won't even perform, it's just filler on the list, but they can charge more that way.
No need for that - just check what is in the owner's manual for 30K miles and get that done, itemized. It will cost nowehere near that amount they mentioned.

Did you follow their 12000mi service interval?
Anyway what you should be replacing are common wear items. Spark plugs, filters, lubricants etc.
Clean the MAF in case and be ok with it. Check for rusty parts under the car since you live in a craptastic place salt wise

Yes they definitely said apex seal replacement as Mazda had upgraded them to blah blah blah but at 30k this sounded strange to me as well. I was thinking Apex seals were more around the 150k mark!! Anyway i think they are having me on, ill contact Mazda and ask about this?
Ive only owned this beauty for 4 months from 24,000 miles so that 12,000mi interval was covered by the 1st owner as the service records have all been with Mazda and on time.
Thanks for all the advice!
Should i take this to my local garage then or to Furrows Mazda and itemize everything? Also oil changes every 3000mi is this correct? I should be able to do that myself and do i need to replace the oil filter every 3000mi as well?
Thanks again

Yes, change oil filter with every oil change. It only costs ~$10US.
If you want to do your own oil changes, make sure you keep all receipts (make copies, as the originals tend to fade) and record mileage on them.

go with oem. No more 12000mi interval from one service to the other for you.6000 miles or so!

30K mile service included Tranny and Diff fluid exchange on top of standard 5K mile maintenance. Other then that...as stated above...a bunch of useless inspections that all came back clean. If they are going to replace your apex seals for £420 I would be all over it though.

Yeah seemed kind of cheap for Apex seals spoke to Mazda and they said basically thats a bunch of bull so phoned the dealer back and merged Mazda customer service into the same call (god i love iphones!) and they basically were told no way do Apex seals needs replacing, there are no "Upgrades" and to tell the customer (me) exactly what im getting for my money.
Brilliant, sorted thanks people!
