RX8 04 CD players

Hi guys,

My CD player skips alot. It's worse than my portable cd player. I tried cleaning the CD player but doesn't do anything.

Do I really need to replace the whole system or is there way to fix it?

Let me know.
Thanks...

Has it skipped since 2004 or just recently? Does it only skip over bumps?

Skips constantly. Any impact on the road will cause to skip.

I remember from when I first got my 8 (its only been about 6 months) that this was a commonly reported problem for the 04's. some may even suggest in the most positive of ways that you do a search...

My CD skips rarely, but I've noticed it's more sensitive than a lot of other players I've owned. Fortunately for me, I'm beyond CDs for the most part and rely on flash/usb drives and my soon to be completed umpc.

You can buy just a new CD player. The head unit is modular, 3 parts if memory serves correctly from the last time I had mine out. I want say they run about $125-$150 new.

There's also the soon to be released metra din/double din dash kit that opens the door for quite a few all out replacement options.

i changed my cd player out for a 6 disc when i first got my car i think a little over a 100 bucks on eBay. I still have the old single cd player if your interested. I never had any problems for the first month i had it. You can barely give these things away. Throw me 20 bucks to take care of shipping and packaging if you don't want to spring for a 6 disc.

I have a standard 1 disc cd player in my 04 also, it doesnt work quite well. Im interested in getting the 6 disc dash cd player but all im finding on ebay is 450$ ones.. is this normal or a ripoff? I know I can get a 6disc to mount somewhere else for much cheaper, but I prefer not to do that.

i have that same issue with my 04 and cant wait to get an upgraded one. it skips over ANY little bump or crack in the road its ridiculous. you'd expect alot more from a cd player that's in a car as nice as ours.
