Rx-8 Side Seal and Corner Seal Clearences

Hello everyone,

I will be shaving down my side seals soon. In the Renesis Manual, I can't find any measurements for the gap between the corner seals and side seals.

The manual simply asks to "Measure the side seal and corner seal clearance and verify that it doesn't exceed the maximum". I have not found a section in the manual which lists the minimum and maximum clearence values.

Does anyone know what is the maximum recommended width and the minimum recommend width between the side seal and corner seal of each rotor?

Thanks

Update:

Here are the suggested clearances in case someone is looking for them in the future:

Standard clearance

0.05-0.15 mm {0.0020-0.0059 in}

There are also two links to engine manuals below as well.

Hm, where'd you get your kit? I got mine from atkins and they included a sheet with everything, including the exact procedure for measuring. Be careful because there's a special way to check clearance. You need to put the seal in the groove, then shove some shims (I used feeler gauges) in the outside edge and THEN measure to the corner seals. Maybe check the atkins website, they may have that sheet published even without having to buy the rebuild kit...

What manual are you using? The one I have lists clearances.

T

I will be using this manual here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-ii-te...2012-a-245370/

I printed everything out or at least I thought I did. Maybe I missed the section I need.

In any case, your linked manual helped.

Thanks

Just curious, do you have an accurate way of measuring side seal clearances. As far as I understand via the manual, the feeler gauge is to be inserted on both sides of the side seal and corner seal contact surface and on each side, the feeler gauge corresponding to your clearance should fit in snugly; in my case, I will set the clearances to 0.06mm on each side which means that the sum of both gauges on each side of a specific seal should add up to 0.12mm or is that the sum of both clearances of a specific seal should amount to 0.06mm?

Either way, when dealing with a seal that isn't inserted perfectly center and if I can insert, at maximum, a 0.04mm or 0.02mm on the right side of the seal and a 0.08mm or 0.04mm on the left side of the seal, this would indicate my clearences are good?
