Rx-8 HP (New car)

Hello guys,

I just purchased by RX-8 a few days ago. I have been reading about the RX-8 not producing correct horsepower, like it states on paper.

I have a 06' Shinka Edition, and so far it has been a blast to drive, but hearing this is really upsetting. I have been hearing funny sound when clutch is depressed, and front brake squeal, so I gotta take it in for service. I pray this car will be reliable with time to come.

Are there any other problems with the 06's?

Thanks

ZOMG YOU STOLEN MY AVATAR!!!

GIT YOU"RE OWN NOOB

Just kiddin. Enjoy the car. It's a blast.

What year is your car? If it is an 06 the HP should be the right amount as stated. It's the earlier years where it was wrong.

Welcome to the club!

What exactly are you hearing when the clutch is depressed?

This may help with your brake squeal

Car is very fun to drive, and handles very good too. I have the 06' Shinka Package Edition. Just bought it last Sunday.

I am hearing this funny buzzing/rubbing sound. My father also drove the car, and we both agreed that the sound was not normal.

The car drives great, but it has minor problems like clutch, brakes, etc..

Can anybody give me problems specifically for the 06 Models? I don't want problems before the 06' have me worrying if the 06 models are affected.

It you hear this "buzzing" sound with the clutch pedal depressed, it may be the throwout bearing. Take it in and have it checked out under warranty.

The horsepower thing related to the first batch of '04's and has nothing to do with later model years. If you want details, do a search of the forum and read some really old threads.

Congrats! Not sure about the '06 model year, but my '04 has been trouble free for 53K now. Oh, and this thread is worthless without a PICTURE! LOL

Congrats, welcome to the Club. Now, go find your own unique avatar. It is bad form to take one that another member is using.

when the clutch pedal is pushed in and you hear a noise that is not present with your foot off the pedal you are most likely hearing gear rollover noise. changing the tranny fluid to a synthetic like Royal Purple will lessen the noise. Really i hardly notice it nowadays.

If you hear a rattle /buzzy noise when you foot is not on the pedal then you are hearing a BAD throwout bearing and need it checked and replaced.

Glad I read through to the end of the thread! I was about to schedule my new '06 with 119 miles on it, for service for a bad throwout bearing haha!

At any rate, glad to know that the buzzing when off the clutch is not abnormal. I was starting to think something was wrong with my brand new RX8!

NOT!
