RX-8 going down?

Has anyone noticed the power of the '06 RX-8? It has 6 less horsepower (manual). Usually, newer cars are slower from added weight such as side air bags but this is a power difference. Is it from a different filter or something? Why and how did Mazda give it less power?

Oh trust me, they noticed.

Look up SAE J1349, the new rating system if you are interested.

is this a linear drop or exponential? does it mean 07 will only have 220? does the month matter at all?

The new rating is definetly more accurate too. Doesn't the current Rx-8 put out about 220 Hp?? I don't think they want people discovering the big difference between the advertised and actual Hp then try to sue, get compensation, or demand to have their cars bought back like they did the last 2 years. False advertising is not good advertising. Same with false ratings.
