Go to Walmart and buy a Bosch filter
The removal nut on the K&N is nice, but it's a pita to order them in ... a removal cap tool is just as effective. The problem is usually people over-tightening the filter in the first place.

Since local dealer is like 20 miles away.... Mazda OEM would come out to like $8-9 anyway... So I get my filters from Amazon... Denso (OEM) was like 9.5 and this was like 11.5.
Read from bobistheoilguy Mobil 1, K&N and Bosch actually don't make good oil filter. Fram was the worst, and Wix is the best flowing. Trying to find that article, can't... Maybe I'll try Wix next time... it's only like $7

tried Fram (extra Guard, Tough Guard), Mobil 1 (108/110), K&N (1008/1010, P1008/1010), Wix, Purolate Gold, OEM.
I gotta say K&N nut-top filter is the nicest out of them, I'm not sure of the filtration rate, it should be on par with the rest. Fram is the ... worst, they came out with an Ultra line with seems to have better filter construction. but I have yet to try that.
Most filters cost around 5-6 bux for me. I usually get 6 of them at a time, I change my oil fast and couple of my family cars uses the same size filter. so it goes fast
nothing special about Royal Purple oil filters IMO, they're trying to go K&N's path. but really Im not ready to pay 15(usually cost that much) for an oil filter, K&N even with nut top filter usually cost me just 8-9 bux.. I think it's worth it. cuz sometimes even with a filter wrench/cap is hard to remove it sometimes, cuz some filter is made with ultra slippery paint and the cap just wouldn't stay. nut top solved that problem

This one guy on amazon review claimed the oil came out cleaner when he used this vs. the oem one. Again... $2 difference... doesn't hurt to try...

well some of the manufacturers you listed make different level oil filters and so they are not all equal and can't be generalized the way you posted it, some of the tests you are referring too are old and the industry hasn't just sat on it's hands doing nothing, also some of the companies have been bought out or merged and who actually makes the filters now vs then and with what construction has also changed, like any forum there are plenty of people on BITOG who don't always have it right or just n00bs regurgitating things they don't understand, and finally some of the manufacturers you have listed make a particular oil filter that has plenty of good ratings on that site.
the RP filter is considered a good filter
I personally use the Bosch Distance Plus on my competition car because while it gets knocked on price it can actually be used long term which can either mean either extended oil service periods or re-using it for several oil changes. It is one of the heaviest built filters on the market and you can tell just by holding it in your hand and comparing the weight between some of the others listed. It's extended service life is due to it's extra filtering crud capacity, which if something breaks internally gives me some safety factory before it plugs up enough to open the bypass and spread crap through the coolers etc. Plus I can just go to Walmart and easily buy one whenever.
