Rough transmission...

Hey guys,
My manual tranny seems to be showing signs of wear and tear. 2004 model.
When its cold (so for the first 15-20mins of driving) changing from gear to gear is quite rough...not nearly as smooth as it used to be. The gears arent grinding but theyre just a lot stiffer and a bit "clunky". When the tranny is warm its better but still not as good as it used to be.
Now I cant say that every gear change has been perfect but I havent exactly thrashed the tranny.
The oil was recently changed when i got a new clutch using elf oil.
Is there an easy fix to my problem? or am i looking at a tranny re-build/whole new tranny?

Thanks guys,
Daniel

synthethic oil is great in cold weather
Redline and Amsoil products work well
Worth a shot
Use GL4

Well its obviously the brand "Elf" but im just not sure which type.
It seems most people around here think redline mt90 is the way to go.
Are there different types of mt-90 or is that just it?
and how much do i need?

Cheers, Daniel

Theres 1 type of MT90, and you will need 1.75 liters or 1.85 quarts if its a 6mt ,if its 5mt you will need 2.5 liters or 2.6 quarts

I recently did the fluid change with Eneos 75w90 and it makes my tranny shift smooth as butter. I'll be using it again on the next service interval.

hey guys,
digging up this old thread, unfortunately changing the oil didnt really make much of a difference. My gearbox still feels rough and clunky, nowhere near as smooth as it used to be.

So the oil isnt the problem its the actual gearbox. Could it be just the gear linkages?

Cheers, Daniel

there is no way to tell what happen without taking it apart and exam the gears.
