Rough shifting 1-2 and 2-3

My 05 rx8 experiences rough shifting when going into 1st, shifting from 1st to 2rd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd, the car just jerks/shakes when I shift into these gears. This is no a big issue since that cars never grinds and it still runs smooth. But since 3rd to 4th is ultra smooth(5th and 6th is alright), so shifting into 1,2,3 just bothers me a little bit. Any bros has any suggestion of what's happening to my car and any solutions? Thx!!!

Does the car shake at idle? Have you checked the motor mounts for cracks?

I think I have all the recalls done. But I just checked the engine mount TBS and my car is in the affected vins, I also feels the car vibrates at idle and I thought it is normal for an rotary, so my question is would a cracked engine mount cause jerky shiftings? should I also have the dealer check the transmission? Thanks all!

the car should be perfectly still and you should feel zero vibrations in your seat and steering wheel. The only thing that should vibrate is the shifter. If you feel vibrations, it'll be the motor mounts that need replacing.

far as jerky motions, are you slipping the clutch enough in the 1-2 upshift? If you're too abrupt it will jerk around.

Not sure if this is what the OP is referring to, but sometimes my car jerks/shakes when I shift from 1-2 or 2-3, but it occurs as I actually move the shift lever with the clutch pushed down. Rev matching smooths out the actual letting off of the clutch.

That is a definite sign of insufficient clutch disengagement. You will want to have your bracket checked-out before your synchros suffer serious damage.

Yeah, in addition 1st can be hard to get into at times, and 5th grinds at higher revs. I complained once about 5th and my clutch pedal squeaking and they replaced the neutral switch. Didn't help at all obviously, but I do have the complaints on record now at least. Once school ends I'll try to get a new bracket and/or transmission.

That sounds like the same issue I'm having

Nope, I complained of the squeaking right before that long thread by nygcps. Definitely will when I go back though.

If anyone does find a broken bracket, they should report it on the NHTSA web site ( http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ ). If enough people report this there could be a recall initiated by the government.
I to have had a squeaking peddle, but I haven't found anything broken yet.
