Exclamation Rough idle, bad smell, hard start

I have the ap mid pipe and cat back. I have a really bad small coming into the cabin. Its not gas. I had a gas leak before and fixed it. This smells like exhaust fumes from the tail pipe. Its really strong and burns my eyes.

I sea foamed my 8 at a friends house. When I started the car the smoke was coming out from under the hood by the windsheld. It was coming into the cabin from the vents up top and on the floor board.

Last night me and my friend jacked up my car and checked the ap mid pipe where it bolts up to the stock header and its sealed up tight. However where the ap mid pipe connects to the ap cat back looks kinda odd (see attachments)

Does this look normal? is the donut gasket supose to be in there? or is it supose to be flush? or does anything in there?

Can anyone who has the ap set up chime in and let me know?
I have rough idle on and off. Is there a vac line that poped off? could this be why the smell is so bad? or is it due to the ap mid pipe not connecting to the cat back flush?

I have rought idle and it comes and goes depending on the start up. I also have hard start that is getting worst (IE: longer to start) however the rough start is hit and miss like the rough idle. I have a 2004 mt with 67,k miles and just changed over from castrol 5w-30 to mobil 1 0w-40 been premixing sence 21k miles. Always change my oil and flush it at 2,500 miles and redline my car everyday.

I went to checker auto parts. They checked my car with the obdII scanner. My starter alternator and battery. My battery is a little low on the cold cranking but everything checked out ok.

You won't get a flush seal with the donut gasket, I just verify that the "gap" is equal on both sides.
What you should have done was start the car with it still jacked up and feel around the connection points for leaks.
If the seal isn't good, you can feel it.

Also, your starter might test fine (because technically it is) but its not "powerful" enough for what our engines need.
This is why we get the upgraded starter. If you don't have one, I suggest getting one.
