Is the rotor ok?

Trying to figure it out to see if I need to buy a new one.. been waiting to get an opinion for about a month and my rebuild is at a stand still.

Yes replace it. That area is a critical part of sealing/wear success/failure for a build. You can find other used rotors in much better shape.

Do rotor castings matter? It looks like I have b casting and it looks like I can get a good set of d castings.

Ideally you want same letter weight rotors, but you can keep them within one letter (A-B, B-C, C-D, D-E)

Since the Alex seal area is all boogered up what are y'all's thoughts on just getting the rotors machined to take the 3mm rx7 apex seals

Dont bother. Zero benefits for your application and will make your build far more expensive and less part compatibility. Replace the rotors.

Only reason I thought about this route was to salvage the rotors. Far less expensive than replacing rotors. I've been trying to find them new in Japan for a reasonable price. The used ones I've found are doing the same thing as mine are now.

Rotors look pretty rough on the edges. It also seems like one of them (or both?) seem to have a little dent in them?

If you find a machinist you may be able to get it redone so you don't have to pay for another rotor.

I've already got 2 new to me rotors. Waiting on some parts from Japan so I can finish.

If you already got parts on you, good job man, you'll have a fresh motor
