HELP!! Rotary Extreme Intake installation!

This is for those who had rotary extreme intake installed.

In the pic, it is a solenoid valve. The top metal nipple of the solenoid valve is connected to the tube coming from the 90 degree nipple. What about the bottom black nipple? Which tube should it connect to?

I feel stupid. Everyone said the installation is easy and I'm having problem.

As I recall, that lower nipple connects to the tube that used to be connected under the factory air box. I'll take a look when I get home and let you know.

Also, have you looked at the installation directions for the intake, posted here?

Yes, the top (metal) nipple connects to the 90deg nipple. The bottom (plastic) nipple connects to the nipple in the bottom of the radiator shield, which connects to the VFAD. With the bottom nipple open to the atmosphere, both the openings in the VFAD are open all the time.

I went and bought some vacuum tube from my local auto store and reconnected the bottom nipple to the VFAD to restore normal VFAD operation (ie secondary intake only open above 7250rpm). (I had to buy some tube becuase the original tube is too short with the solenoid valve in its new position).

Anyway, I found that with the VFAD operating again, the intake made less noise in the 3-6000 rpm range than it did with the VFAD disconnected and open all the time. I also did some performance testing with a stopwatch and found that it made absolutely no difference in performance whether the VFAD was connected or not. The only difference was in the amount of noise. So if you are finding the intake a bit too loud in the mid-rev range, reconnecting the VFAD can help without changing performance at all.

Thanks Wildcard,

I got Chuck's reply last night. He said I can leave that
plastic nipple on the solenoid valve open or plug it up with a vacuum cap.

Yes, the intake makes a lot of noise when it's in 3-6k rpm. I will try your method later, reconnect the VFAD using a longer vacuum tube.

I did the same thing, and I must say I like it ALOT better than with the VFAD open all the time. Now I can actually hear my exauhst!
