Rev limiter

Ok so I did a bunch of searches to try and find where the rev limiter is set to on this car with no luck. I guess I'm bad at this search function thing because it kept coming up with crap. Finally bought an 8 yesterday and took it to 10k with no cut off. Is there even a rev lmiter on it? Maybe at 10.5k?

9.5K is the limit on a MT and I want to say the AT is around 7K.

So should I assume the car's pcm has been reflashed if it's not cutting out at 9.5k?

Don't you mean Cole Trickel?

Come to the Chicago meets. I would love a ride in a car with no rev limiter.

The redline is at 9.5

I think it would probably let you over-rev until you destroyed something.

The only time it limits is when the engine is cold.

Ok now I'm even more confused. The "redline" on my tach shows 9k. Do you mean the "rev limiter" is supposed to be set to 9.5k when cold and once it warms up there is none?

Look in the regional forums in the midwest section. There is a thread "Chicago Area Meets" and another "Chicago Area Lounge". There is a meet the first Saturday of every month around dinner time. The location shuffles between Portillos and The Foundry, depending on the month. There is occasionally some other stuff going on too. Like there is a small car show at a subburban HS, Oswego East H.S. next saturday that a few of us have plans to attend.

Ok so I brought her up to 9.5k after work and DID hit fuel cut off. Drove around for a while and then parked her to run into a store real quick..... came back and started her with the nice glow of a CEL! Second day owning the car.....ths is not a good omen!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are a lot of us that have gotten CEL's for whacking the rev limiter too hard. It should reset and go away after some driving if thats all it is for.

When you hit the rev limiter it cuts the gas hard. The car almost stands on its nose.

I have never had cel afterwards though. Just felt like and idiot.

most OE tachs are indicating 300 - 500 rpms high for the cutoff, actual should be 9000

I'm on it a lot, never a CEL ...

I didn't get a CEL right after and I'm sure it has nothing to do with me bouncing off of the rev limiter once. It came on a while after I did that and after I restarted the car. While at a stop in the car I have felt a slight misfire since I got the car....in fact I was wondering if it was going to trip a CEL. I'm guessing that's what it's on for.
