Replace Clutch, Now Engine is Surging
This past weekend I replaced the stock clutch with a stage 1 kit from exedy. Everything went fine as far as the clutch swap. The instant I started driving the engine couldn't seem to find the correct idle. It would also stall periodically while trying to find the idle speed. On top of that, when I am traveling at a constant speed the engine jerks the car. There is no change in RPM but you can feel the differences in power. Taking it to the dealer is a last resort. I've checked the neutral switch and everything seems to be in good order. The ECU hasn't thrown a code yet either. After resetting the KAM there is still no difference. The only thing I can think of at this point is a problem with one of the spark plugs and possible misfire. Anyone have this issue after replacing a clutch or just in general?

When I did my clutch swap I noticed the four wire harnesses on top of the tranny.
Two of them were white and the other two were black.
Not wanting to mix them up (the two whites or the two blacks), I put a thick sharpie line on the sides of one white harness and one black harness (the black sharpie was still visible on the black harness).
That way, I could tell the two white and two black harnesses apart.
Is it possible that you got the two harnesses mixed?
Did you have it labeled in any way?

Just got it back from the dealer. Diagnosis - engine was misfiring because ignition coils had gone bad. Certainly wasn't expecting that considering a had all new coils, wires, plugs, and engine put in this past December. I guess Mazda just makes crappy coils. Hopefully mine will keep going bad within the parts warranty so ill never have to pay for them.

believe it or not, it doesn't really matter. it didn't matter on old ones either. either that or i get lucky every time. just a one wire split with a switch, no matter which way you connect there's pcm signal on one side ground on other, press switch PCM sees ground .
