Renesis Life Expectancy

ok so i was doin some readin and i think i remember someone saying the "life expectancy" of the renesis was like 100,000 miles...is that accurate...how costly is the rebuild?

RoXanneBlack8 09-14-2007 08:48 PM

i seen some runnin 100k and others dead at 10k man its way too early to call a general "most run on average..." score

this is comin froma guy whos at 30k and comp is at low 7s so im next for an engine.....and rebuild? nah man we ship em out and get remans baby!

mysql101 09-14-2007 09:15 PM

No way to really know, as there isn't enough data yet. There's a half dozen people on the forum who have over 100,000 miles though.

nycgps 09-14-2007 10:56 PM

32 K , running strong.

Im expecting it to last at least 200K miles (unless I FI it)

mysql101 09-14-2007 11:04 PM

I expect my engine to outlast nycgps's NA motor with FI since I can more efficiently clean out carbon deposits than he can - and at lower RPMs.

So if he says 200k, I say mine will do 2,000k.

tskeltonPGA 09-15-2007 08:21 AM

whats the cost on gettin a remanufactured engine? is it really cheaper than a rebuild?

should be able to get a used engine in the 3k figure. If your engine blows up, chances are you'll need new seals and maybe new housings - it gets expensive really fast.

That's when mine died. :)

Mine is alive ! Alive ! :lol2:

zenmoused 09-16-2007 12:12 PM

The renesis is good for, on average, 8,000 miles. nycgps did some voodoo magic to keep his alive for this long. That's why I swapped mine out for a v-tec. More power, and lasts longer!

see this is why i don't like these kinda forums...why do ppl have to be a smart ass...i'm not gonna ask somethin unless i've done some reading...

ps...it would have been a lot less trouble for you to just not give me a hard time and post a link or somethin like that...thanks for the hospitality

titaniumgr3y 09-16-2007 01:01 PM

zenmoused, good for us that you sold your 8.

You dont deserve to drive one. And anyway, 8,000miles will only last when you drive it like a stupid maniac.

NgoRX8 09-16-2007 01:24 PM

uhh...lol

that's kinda harsh

Woah! Who said anything about selling their 8? 8k miles is just when I swapped my engine out for some bangin' V-TEC action!

I'll continue to drive my 8 like a stupid maniac all I want, thank you very much!

Come now, you can't join a forum and NOT expect to be harassed! Your first question is actually something that you can easily find by using the "search" function. Nice forum members answered your question, no big deal. However, when you continue asking things that can very easily be found by searching, thus asking other forum members to do your thinking for you, you're going to get flamed. :tear:

Cody Red 09-16-2007 03:16 PM

try at least 192k

From this point, if I make it to 80k (which should be towards the end of 2010) without any major/costly problems I'll be one happy sonuvabitch. It's easy right now to say that I'll keep it forever, but a lot can change in 3 years.

ps...thanks for thread crapping...i'm sure theres some sort of a rule against that...also...the only way i can get the search to give me any kind of accurate results is to go and select advance search and then search "thread titles" or somethin like that...i am soo sorry it took me a minute to figure out how to actually get good results from the search feature...PLEASE excuse my ignorance:slap:

ok alright man..sorry i ruffled your feathers...ok...done...so...can we please get back on topic

nycgps 09-16-2007 09:42 PM

Fine.

100K miles ?

Well, Scientist said that a new born baby's life expectancy is around 250 years. Yep, 250 years.

but, who can live that long? why not? cuz there are ALOT of unpredictable factor will affect the new born's life. Like food we eat, places we go, people we meet, air we breath, accidents, natural born defects, etc

Same thing for the engine. quite a few people on this forum past the 100K mark already, and there is a recent post about someone got 192K out of their original engine. There're also some people's engine die within the 10K miles.

There is not enough data right now to say how long can we expect outa the Renesis engine. Give it another few more years then we will know

what are the typical reasons that cause the engine to go...i'm searching and tryin to read right now...aside from someone doin somethin stupid like runnin it out of oil

nycgps 09-16-2007 09:50 PM

I think side seals giving up is the most common reason. and Carbon build up jamming everything.

Mazda fuxked up their OMP programming in the earlier model. 04 AT was the most effected one.
