engine light blinking are misfires.

change your coils and/or plugs.

Winks are for gays!

Enough of that sillyness, replace your plugs and coils and you're A-OK. The BHR Upgrades is what would solve this issue for years.

No thanks, I have one, and it screws with my car pretty bad.

Those screens come out of whack too easily, over time the AIR pushes them open.

Also throws misfire CELS when that happens, was wondering if the OP has one, because mine throws random CELS near redline too.

Actually the ones in the Mazdaspeed that Scott (tubingchamp) has aren't OEM..they are quite different. They have rubber borders and are quite dimensionally unstable. They seem to warp and distort after a while in the intake...dunno what's up with that

What dan said.

We fiddled with it, re-installed it and it bogged and such, so I fiddled with it some more, made 100% sure the screens were IN THERE straight (after experimenting with one screen out, etc, which made it just stall). It ran for a little while normally but now again its starting to go all wonky and bog abit under 30% throttle or so above 5000RPM, and issues after i redline, it seems to bog the next gear.

just contact BHR and get those coils changed 9 times out of 10 a blining CEL means a misfire which is caused by coils....the OEM coils in this car are **** and do not last very long

Any chance misfires and other plug/coil issues would cause/exacerbate cat issues? I get P0420's occasionally (they sometimes self-reset,) and this morning noticed major misfiring (below freezing air, engine warmed up, major power loss at 6+k with blinking engine light.)
I'm going to get new plugs/coils obviously, but think there's any chance it'll take care of the P0420's as well (at least for a little while?)

i had the same problem happen at around 6500rpm's getting on the highway and my engine severely bogged down and it wont rev high in any gear that i could feasably try (1-2-3), and my engine light blinked and stayed on....now im sitting in a mazda dealership...any ideas other than the fact that i probably shouldn't be at the dealership?
